I am glued to my TV today watching the aftermath of the earthquake in Japan. I have a good friend who lives in Tokyo. She moved there a few months ago from London and has never experienced an earthquake before. Thankfully she and her family are ok, but what a scare!
Things like this remind me just how precious life is. Live every day to it's fullest. You never know when an earthquake will strike. Or a hurricane. Or a tornado. Or a tsunami.
Or the death of a child.
Your life can change in an instant. So don't take anything for granted. Don't wait until tomorrow to do something fun or tell someone you love them. Do it today.
Dealing with the loss of a child is never easy, but it's even more difficult when you are an expat living far from home. Life will never be "normal" again and so now the challenge is to find my new normal. I am now back in the USA and the proud parent of two daughters, born using two different egg donors. "Frostina" and "Olea" are the loves of my life and I feel so grateful for the amazing women who donated their eggs and made my family possible.

That's so true! destruction can strike at any moment. In an instant our lives could be changed forever. I make it a point to tell everyone that I love them every time I get the chance.

I so agree.
ReplyDeleteI watched in horror at the images...it was like the sea was sweeping the cars like they were cardboard or something. A train is missing, ships are missing, people are missing....it's aweful!
Sorry!!!!- my computer just went crazy (please delete my duplicate posts)

Well said!
ReplyDeleteToo true.
ReplyDeleteAnd you reminded me of how I felt back in March watching (and very quickly, not watching) the TV coverage of the tsunami in Japan. I used to live there and love so much about Japan and its people and that made me even sadder. And yes, once again reminded to take care of everything you love.

ReplyDeleteYou are spot on with this one! Every day is a gift. I never leave the house without kissing my sweetheart and making sure he knows I love him. Same thing with my parents and sister. You just never know what hand life will deal you. Love and be loved.
