Dreaming About Rainbows

I had a dream last night about rainbows. In this dream I was trying to explain to my hubby how a baby you have after a loss is called your rainbow baby while trying to show him a rainbow in the sky. This rainbow kept showing when I was looking and then going away when he was looking. It took a while but finally it showed for both of us.

It's no surprise I'm dreaming about rainbows. Last night I had two phone calls to talk about my upcoming donor egg IVF cycle. The first call came from the nurse who was updating me on the donor and also wanting to find out how much medication I still had. It was a pretty long call (especially considering she was calling from the US) and she was basically walking me through how this week and next week will look. She was positive but still cautious. Telling me things were going well, but not to buy my plane ticket until after fertilization.

The second call was from the doctor who sounded much more sure that things were going to plan. He told me that they will probably trigger the donor on Wednesday and do the egg retrieval on Friday. Which means if all goes well then I will be hopping on a plane and heading to Washington DC next week Tuesday. He advised me not to buy my plane ticket just yet but ended the call with, "See you next week."

See you next week.

So what started as dates on a piece of paper has turned into something that may actually happen. And the hubby who has been keeping me from getting ahead of myself is now freaking out. He's trying to plan his week, what days he can work from the hotel and what day he can sneak out and go see a baseball game. I reminded him that after the transfer I have to take it easy and not do much so a baseball game might not work out. To which he said then he could just go on his own,,, nice. He is now the one getting ahead of himself. He kept getting the dates all wrong and I finally had to tell him to stop and breathe.

So now we're both excited and scared..... and dreaming about rainbows.

  2. I just saw a lecture online about the myths of embryo transfer. One clinic followed over 900 patients, half of which had bed rest of 30 minutes or more and those who didn't and compared the pregnancy rates and there was NO difference. Also, they selected a group and gave them US's to see if the embryo had moved after standing up and using the bathroom, and none of them had moved a significant amount. I got a couple of hrs of sitting down after the transfer that resulted in my daughter, but that was in the car on the way home. After that I was running around after two toddlers and doing housework as usual. I think you can safely take in a baseball game with confidence that you can still get your BFP :) It is hard to believe sometimes that there isn't anything we can do to affect the outcome of a transfer, but really, we can't, it is all going on safe in your uterus at the cellular level. Have faith in those beautiful eggs you'll be getting :)

  4. Buckle up, here we go. Rainbows are nuts. Did you know I saw one the day before Toddlerina was born? All in the hospital bed hooked up to the devil's serum and there was my Sign All Would Be Ok. Bananas, huh. I am delighted you got one as well.

Your call on the baseball game. My RE sent me to a movie after my transfers. She advise I should believe more in couch potato mentality than actually being laid up. Take a cab to the door of the stadium/field and settle in for a game.

All that said and done, I think CCRM tells their patients to lay it out. It would be worth checking. You have any CCRM buddies? I will go ask mine. She was DE too and my virtual authority to all things DE.

  5. Yes Roccie, we already have a frozen sample in DC. Although the hubby was so fond of the collection room at the clinic that he has kindly volunteered to go back and do it all again if that's what's needed. What a guy!

We're not at CCRM but can use any help or advice we can get.

  12. Hi there...LisainSK from Wanted:One Good Embryo (now Found: One Good Embryo) as our baby boy was born four weeks ago (DE baby too). Anyway, we are CCRM patients and we had strict bedrest for 48 hours. You could only get up to use the washroom or fix a quick snack. No laptops laying on top of your tummy...etc. I wish you all the best!!
