Today my beautiful baby girl turns 1.
I am overjoyed and without words.
For so many years I thought I would never reach this day.
Or any day where a living child of mine would reach her first birthday.
A day where I would be planning her birthday party.
A day where I would be inviting her playgroup friends over to help celebrate.
A day when I would buy expensive champagne to toast her first birthday.
It's a wonderful day, and I am so very lucky.
Dealing with the loss of a child is never easy, but it's even more difficult when you are an expat living far from home. Life will never be "normal" again and so now the challenge is to find my new normal. I am now back in the USA and the proud parent of two daughters, born using two different egg donors. "Frostina" and "Olea" are the loves of my life and I feel so grateful for the amazing women who donated their eggs and made my family possible.
Happy Birthday Frostina! I am hoping you have decades more of celebrations with her.

ReplyDeleteI have read your blog since I started blogging last summer, a few months after losing my son Harry. I just realised that Frostina and Harry share the same birthday. Harry died on 10th June 2012 and I am dreading that anniversary. Today has been hard but I know Monday will be harder.
